Landmarks: New York (v1.0 update)

New version, new name! Updates include:

  • Photos: more than 600 landmarks now include thumbnail photos from Wikipedia, plus links to hi-res images
  • The latest landmarks (as of Oct. 2010)
  • More info: better Wikipedia links and a link to the Neighborhood Preservation Center’s online inventory of Designation Reports
  • Bug fixes: correct kilometers calculation, & GPS doesn’t hang if it can’t get a fix
  • Overall cleaner layout

The main page with the results of a “Nearby” search:

These two show the results of searching by landmark name — the app displays the list of all 1,300+ landmarks, and you just type to filter the list (for example, type “school” to show all the sites with “school” in the name, etc). When you tap a landmark name, it shows the details plus an email icon; just tap to email the landmark details (with a Wikipedia link):

These last two show the results of searching by street address, anywhere in New York City.  When you tap a landmark name, you can show the location on Google Maps right on your phone:
